Does anyone have a Viola they would like to sell? My neice joined the orchestra at her school and will be playing it. My sister is having a hard time finding one. (she would rather not rent one).

You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but NEVER pick your friend's nose!
WoW, I would think any music store would have one or could order one.

What's the difference between a Violin and a Viola? Just the size?
Here it is
The viola is a bowed string instrument. It is the middle voice of the violin family, between the violin and the cello.
The casual observer may mistake the viola for the violin because of their similarity in size, closeness in pitch range (the viola is a perfect fifth below the violin), and nearly identical playing position. However, the viola's timbre sets it apart: its rich, dark-toned sonority is more full-bodied than the violin's. The viola's mellow voice being frequently used for playing inner harmonies, it does not enjoy the wide solo repertoire or fame of the violin. The name of the instrument is properly pronounced /vɪˈoʊlə/ vee-OH-lə,[1] but often incorrectly pronounced "vye-oh-la" pronounced /vaɪˈoʊlə/ as the word "violet" is spoken.

check with jents music. They have stores in Lubbock, Plainview and Amarillo. Local music store NTune refuses to rent to anyone except through schools, price quoted for a used instrument was more than double what I will be paying to rent a brand new name brand clarinet from Jents this weekend. I'm in my 40's well out of school. I play the flute, always wanted to play clarinet. Bought a cheap one off the internet (made in China of course...) can already play way better than the cheap one will do. Not sure if I want to purchase outright, want to rent a good one first. I was very disappointed with N-Tune's policy. I will spend my time and gas to drive to Lubbock as they seem to be much more "user-friendly". Have a bigger selection of music books in stock, neat selection of old stuff to sort through to find some jewels. They even offered lessons $20 for half hour. Wish I lived much closer so I could take them up on that offer. They have orchestra instruments as well as band. They have a web site you can look over to see the variety of instruments offered. They don't note online that they rent to anyone, but that's what I was told when I called. Good luck to you with the search.
I hope your niece is not in the Midland High district, It took years to build up the orchestra program (Mostly GT students) and Jeff Horner has destroyed it in 2 Months!!!!! If things don't change over 50% of the students will transfer out of orchestra at midterm (Most would have already if allowed)
I know if Jeff Horner were hiring the head football coach he would not select a junior high soccer coach to fill the position.
