Is it just me, or does it seem like mywesttexas.com has the same stories posted day after day? No wonder the paper is downsizing and only consists of 2 sections today....I guess it wouldn't be cost effective to print the same stories for four or five days.

It was a rather thin paper but then the Monday paper has always been thin in the five years we've subscribed.

I agree, seems they are so afraid to offend someone so they just don't print anything. So sad.

    Default Go Local

I think the MRT should basically go local and forget about all the filler reprint of the AP and NYT, etc. Just stick with local investigations and news and leave all the national blather to the internet and TV. I hear of more stuff around here all the time that never hits the MRT. I quit subscribing several years ago but still leaf-through a copy at the office from time to time. And... the new size of the paper is funny. I'm sure they are saving some money but it reminds me of a Grit. LOL

Very true. I never understood why they would reprint the national and world news. Im sure this worked before the internet came around, but these days who is coming to their local paper for non-local news?

Do you see a problem with these two replies? The Midland paper is a local town paper. If you want national news subscribed to the on-line Wall Street Journel or another news source. I admit that I initially expected more from the paper until, and hit me in the head, I realized that this is a small town - not a metro-city concerned with issues not reflecting the issues concerning just local interest, except as a filler. Midland is a small, and I hate to say this and I really do, self-concerned "city" - tightly controlled, self-interest, don't offend me and don't tell me what to do and did I get my name published type of place!

My original point is not the content of the paper. I think it changes daily. My complaint is that the same stories remain on the mwt.com page day after day. 2000 kids trick or treat at white house was there for 3 or 4 days. Who gives a flip? I guess they think some of the stories are so good that we will want to read them for 3 or more days in a row.

Yeah, I noticed that! Sports section is the worst!! Up until a week ago they still had all the articles up on LEE & MHS first game week articles!! I just wrote it off to laziness.

I miss the food section too. Now it's "Lifestyles."
