Default ECHS - Early College High School

Anyone have any information on this program? I have read the articles in the paper and checked out the website. Just wondering if anyone has any other information on it.

    Thanks!

I don't really know anything about it, I do recall seeing a bit on it awhile back on the news....from what I remember it sounds like a neat program.

I went to the parent meeting. It really is a great opportunity - but, as usual, to participate in the program you have to be a minority, recieving free or reduce lunches at school, be an English Language Learner, or a first generation college student. Once again - the lower middle class, english speaking, white child cannot benefit!

I personally know of a student that is in the program right now. Not one of the criteria you mentioned applies to him. I wonder if he only got in because both of his parents work for MISD.

I heard a lady talking about it the other day at my sons orchestra concert. Where as I do not know their family situation, she was white, and had no trouble speaking english. Of course it was while they were introducing my sons group so I wasn't listening as much as I was giving her a death glare and making shhhisg noises.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

I am so sorry I don't live up to your standard of perfection. There might be a misspelled word or a typo above.

Tell me more about this program.

When my kids attended highschool in Midland, they both received College Credits while in HS in certain classes. We did have to pay MC for this.

I guess this one is going to be a free one for certain people.

Interesting! I wish I could say that it is surprising.

Exactly! My oldest took concurrent hs/college courses and we paid for it. But yes, this is TEA mandated to require the "special" criteria. Well you know what, I am tired of certain people getting the "special" treatment!

They don't have it listed on the website. I found out by attending an information meeting, I am assuming you can call them and get it.
