MyWestTexas.com now seeking Community Journalists
Got News? or maybe it's news to you. Now you can submit an article to mywesttexas.com. Just fill in the form below to include your article, and photo ( optional ).
As for guidelines, try these:
-- Articles will not be published without name, email address and phone number.
-- Please indicate a category in which your story's subject matter pertains.
-- There is no word limit, however the shorter your article the better.
-- If you are writing a profile about someone other than your child, please
include that person's contact information.
-- If you are writing an item about an event, please try to answer the 5 W's
Who, what, when, where, why. And how, if you have a how.
-- If you are covering a news or sports event, do not write chronologically (i.e., "The game began with the kickoff," or "The trial began when the bailiff said 'All rise.' " When writing, always start with the most important aspect of your story, event or subject. People want to know what was interesting about what you covered, not that you were there and the event began. In news/sports event stories, write in the "inverted pyramid" style, including the most important fact first, followed by facts that are diminishing in their importance.
-- We live in a visual society. Seldom do you see a news story anymore without a photograph. Please submit picture(s) to go with your story so people can better visual what happened or who your story is about.
-- Please spell check your stories before submission. We may not always have the time to do that.
-- If you have additional content or writing questions, please contact Jimmy Patterson at Jimmy@MyWestTexas.com.
