In Flanders Fields
by John McCrae Captain, Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps, May 1915
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Florence American Cemetery, Italy
4402 U.S. military dead

I remember when veterans would sell artificial poppies to wear on Memorial Day. It always reminded me of that poem.

Mac, those are extraordinary pictures, thank you for sharing. Jillybean, how neat to have that connection. I hope you get to find his headstone one day.

Does anyone know what time Outback closes? A steak sure sounds yummy.

Sigh. On Sundays they close the kitchen 9:30.
Just FYI.
But the GOOD news is that I am squeaky clean and smell good, too!
