OK.... my 2 cents. It is not right to bash a QB----- highschool or not when the kid had to run for his life the whole game. I mean OHS killed the kid everytime he went back to pass, do you really believe you have the patience to sit in the pocket and wait to be lit up like a christmas tree?? NO!! You want better production out of Pipes......PROTECT HIM BETTER..... I actually got to feeling sorry for the kid last week. Some of it is his fault, but please give the boy some time to throw the ball "without running for his life" and you will be more pleased with his production.
We will see how good your defense is!!

LoLo, I hear you, but he still doesn't have #3 on my list.... something which most good QB's, including Teegarden, have.... the ability to make something happen when the pockect collapses. And I KNOW it collapses around him a lot, but he's been doing terrible even when he has time.... 4th Q in Amarillo being a prime example. They were blocking for him.... he'd have time.... and he'd launch the ball 25 feet over everyone's head. UGH.

But this whole situation falls directly on the coaching staff. I have always said that Gaines and the staff he put together is not the best fit for Permian. I have no doubt if Wellman had been named head coach, this would be a whole different discussion. However, I agree, Pipes should not be the starting qb at this time.

I couldn't disagree more. The staff made some O-line tweaks as well as with alignments (more two-back sets) and the running game and protection has been better. Result- Pipes last two games 25-38-435 yards 6 TDs 0 INTs.

I apologize I did not realize they tweaks they have made. If that is the case, then maybe the kids and the coaches are now getting in a comfort level with each other.

True Pipes has stepped up for two games, but this district is pretty weak for this year, OHS(depending on Brad's situation) has the best shot at making a playoff run while the other 3 will get nailed by a metroplex team. I don't think Pipes can keep that up when the competition level steps up, if they get Coppell(who's entire secondary has good hands) or SLC, who's defense is excellent, Im sorry but Jackson Richards will destroy O'Connell, plus Allen is back on track, if we get that far. Bottom line feed Fay & George the ball and make them the primary members of the offense & let Pipes throw enough to keep a d honest, but they have 2 winnable games against Coronado & Tascosa, while I am concerned against Midland High. I was wrong once about Lee, hopefully I am again. Thats my rant for the day.
